Fotolog...

Back in 2004 when I lived in China, I started a Fotolog that I had a lot of fun with. A few months ago, I switched over to this blog because I wanted more options for blogging (ie, general format, places to link to sponsors, etc)...but I've come to realize I'm not a true blogger.
I might update this blog every once in a while about triathlon stuff, but fotolog is much more my style :o)

I'm still rehabbing my back/neck, & will be a thousand percent healthy sooner than later, but exactly when that will be, not sure... :o)
Cheers!

Chronological Order...

Since we all know pictures say a thousand (or so) words, I'll make the posts short-n-sweet, and go in chronological order starting...with Robyn & me in the kitchen cooking up some pizza for our belated Mother's Day Celebration...I got this pic from Kathy...I should've taken a pic with Kathy and our final product!

S&R posed in front of the buffalo pasture...
the fam in front of the OKC Memorial...

...even with a box to stand on, Dr. Ahmad needed S to squat to get him hooded!

good mentors are needed in many areas of life...

awe :o) ...with my fav!!

hail started on the way home...we stopped at Wendy's for a little cover...

our least fav graduation present was what we found when we got home - 2 totaled cars...
"hubcap, anyone??" ~ Robyn

...so now we're trying to figure all the car stuff out while we plan to move next week! Hmmm...

More cheers!

We went out to eat with the Med Physics Profs & Students...As interesting and entertaining as it (always) is, tonight didn't disappoint... ;o)
Also, Stephen got the William Allen Award for "academic excellence"...(a 4-0 is hard to beat) ;o)
Note: If it is truly based on academic excellence, why did all the profs have to vote? So I will call it the Favorite Student Award...I'm not surprised that they all voted for him - he definitely gets my vote, too! ;o)

Moving + Injury = Creations

My workout load plummeting the past month has given me a lot more time & energy for creativity in the kitchen.
Although Stephen has felt bad for me being injured, he hasn't minded all the extra cooking and cleaning that I've had time & energy for! :o)
Knowing that we're getting ready to move, I've been inclined to empty as much food from our cabinets and fridge, and I've surprised myself at how much fun it's been concocting some...unique combinations.
It's also been nice to have Stephen consumed with his thesis defense, copious amounts of HW and work, final exams, and 2 big presentations. That way, he doesn't make frequent visits to the kitchen to see how closely I'm following the recipe! (Besides, not every phase has to taste "right" as long as the final product is tasty!) ;o) Sometimes I joke with him & tell him not to clip my wings. :o)
It's easy to make concoctions that are some sort of soup or stew. As long as you have a huge soup pot or dutch oven, you can keep adding beans, meat, spices, broth, veggies, quick barley, rice, bouillon cubes, ETC until it tastes good!

It's gonna be a bright, bright, sunshine-y day!

Today, I graduated from only running and I get to pick a little ride or swim. Last time I graduated, I chose to bike and then immediately un-graduated, so this time, I'll pick swimming. To celebrate, I thought I'd post a little swim picture. This was taken last year at St. Anthony's triathlon the morning before the race. Last year, the water was too choppy, so the amateur race was a TT bike/run...and this year, I was injured, so I couldn't compete. Next year we'll find out if "3rd time's a charm" or not ;o)
I'm bummed that I can't compete in Knoxthrill's Rev3 tri this weekend. The race director + staff's emails & organization were quite impressive - sounds like it's going to be an amazing event! If you live in east TN, you should check it out :o)
Injuries & setbacks are part of sport (and life!), and I'm so thankful to be close to healed up and continue pressing on with the season!
ps: I LOVE hot weather!!
