war stories...MIO Du

I was so thankful that Stephen came to cheer me on and help keep me a bit warmer! :o) He got some pics of the March in Okarche Duathlon...I have a feeling that the stories about this race will just get better as time passes and TriOKC has fun reminiscing about the day. In a couple years, there will probably be 80mph winds and a handful of people who were blown into the cow pastures after they were run over by the farming tractors :o)...

To give you a little idea about the wind, note the flag in the background (you might have to click the photo to see it)...that is what we started biking INTO for the bike course. 8 miles into that was less than fun, then we turned north for a mile and turned around. CRAZY, I tell ya! This pic makes me laugh because I'm obviously coveting the leg warmers that my friend, Kirsten, was wearing!!! hahaha. Probably the worst thing about the crazy weather was that the internet said that it was going to be 71 and sunny, but turned out 42 and raining! Okarche is a bit under an hour away, so I (and many others) appeared at the race ready to go in a tank top and shorts!...Fortunately, I brought a couple other shirts, but was drooling over others who had tights. I had just brought some windbreaker pants to warm up in, and definitely wasn't cold enough to use those parachute leggings during the race! :o) I was actually a bit toasty on the first run and was thankful that I didn't have tights...but then it started raining harder, and my body became an icicle on the bike course...Oh well, some of the fun of multisport events is the crazy atmosphere when everyone looks around and asks each other what we're doing! :o)

Blizzards ain't my thang :o)

After the Miami race and traveling back to OKC, my shoes were smelling like a hot zone, so I washed them and put them outside to dry in the 50 degree weather...but the next day, I found them a bit "under the weather", if that's possible for a shoe :o)
Here's poor little Rosemary...If you're wondering if we are planning for kids, right now, we have our hands full trying to keep little Rosemary alive!... :o) She's had a HARD winter, let me tell ya! This is actually a pic after the Christmas blizzard when we came home and she was lookin' dead. I sort of gave up after Christmas, but Stephen's compassion mode kicked in and he's tried to save her...haha. Although...she was (yet again) outside when this weekend's blizzard happened. He insists that she just hibernated for the winter, (I thought bears did that?!) Time will tell :o)
Happy Tues!

OK City is better than OK! :o)

Hannah was in OK City as part of her road trip, and I got back from FL just in time to see her! Lucky me! For lunch, we had potato soup & chocolate cake that Stephen made for us! mmmm. It was fun to catch up with a Knoxthrill friend in OKC! :o)

Training Adventures...

I was so thankful to train with Amanda in sunny FL! While out on a training ride, I got a flat (BOO!). I normally would not train with Zipp wheels, but I can't fit 2 sets of wheels in my bike case. Amanda insisted on waiting with me at Farley's Frigeration headquarters ("Keepin' Your #$* Cold") while my mom trekked out to find us! I was thankful for their help, since I'm not sure that Farley would've been concerned about my stranded condition and might've thrown my ... in his freezer! :o)

The Gift of a TYR Wetsuit

I just got back from Florida. There were many challenges that happened to occur, but the Lord always showed us the next thing to do to fix (or at least sort of fix) the problem or sometimes even make it better than it was to begin with!
One unfortunate-that-turned-into fortunate occurrence:
The first weekend I was in FL, I raced in a borrowed wetsuit that acted more like a water trap than a buoyancy help. 2 days later, I happened to be in the locker room with a TYR rep! ...short story even shorter, TYR gave me an awesome wetsuit! I tried it out in Miami, and loved it! I have never liked swimming in any wetsuit and it's always been on my dislike list, but now I'm excited about swimming in it. :o) Too bad the water temp in Miami was too warm for the pros to use wetsuits.
Swimming slow was a blessing in disguise! :o)
It was great to be with my parents - I'm blessed!
